Continuously Wound Spiral G Form Finned Tubes

The fin is embedded into a helical groove machined into the tube wall. Preferred at high temperatures and under continuous thermal cycling.

On our purpose-built machine for continuously wound spiral finned tube production, the flat fin is embedded by dies into a helical groove machined into the tube surface. When carbon steel tube and carbon steel fin are selected, we recommend hot-dip galvanizing to our customers.

There are two main reasons for this: to protect the products against corrosion, and to perfect the heat transfer between the fin and the tube.

Advantages and Disadvantages

  • More expensive than the corrugated and I forms; in return it offers high efficiency.
  • Because the distinctive G form design embeds the fin into a helical groove machined into the tube, it is used in applications involving high temperatures, continuous thermal cycling and tube vibration caused by high-velocity air flow.
  • There is no turbulence, so air-borne noise is very low.
  • It does not tend to trap dust or similar particles.
